Top Ten Tuesday 15

21:31

Top Ten Tuesday is weekly meme hosted The Broke and the Bookish. There is a new topic for each week and the participating bloggers are invited to post their Top Ten lists on it.

Some of the best book I read this year are written by new-to-me authors. Here is my Top Ten list. The order of the names is random and the links lead to the Goodreads page of the respective author.

Top Ten Bookish Goals/Resolutions for 2014

Read new genres/types of books – It is high time I time some stories involving shapeshifters (I am thinking Nalini Singh), some historical romance  - I can’t believe I haven’t tried it yet, I am curious about the steampunk novels, as well.

Read more –  Over the past year I was mainly focused on contemporary romance and New Adult, but I feel I need to read more YA, fantasy, sci-fi, literary fiction

Read less – I love biker books, rockstar romance, angsty New adult, but too many of the ones I read were really bad, so I will try to be more  careful what I pick this year

Review every book I read - I hesitate to write reviews of books I didn't like much and want to change that

Improve the style of my reviews - Practice makes perfect, you know :)

Increase blog’s popularity - I don't have a plan how to do that yet, but I will continue working on it

Try new authors - I have discovered a bunch of amazing new authors last year and hope to do so also in 2014

Request less ARCs - I need to be careful what I request since I often end up with too many ARCs and not enough time to read and review them

Be more active on Pinterest - I am still thinking over how to organize my boards on Pinterest but I hope to collect/share more pins on my favourite books/series/authors

Organize more giveaways, participate in promos/book tours - I don't have much time for this but sending an email to a fan telling them that they won a giveaway makes me really happy.

Leave me a comment with a link to your Resolutions for 2014 and I will stop by to check them out!

  2. I think your approach about writing reviews for every book you read is so interesting because I'm taking the opposite approach. I am taking an approach to read for pleasure and not reviewing those books.

I totally get the request less ARCs things too. It's so hard to keep up. I request a lot and don't expect to get approved. Now it's too much. So I'm going to limit what I request as well.

  4. Oh I could give you lots of shape-shifter recommendations! It is one of my favorite genres. Dana Marie Bell has some good ones off the top of my head. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, I'll check her works. I was thinking of Nalini Singh, I've been meaning to try the Psy-changeling series but I am a bit intimidated by the number of books in it.

    1. The ARC issue seems to a common one for most of the bloggers I follow. We all tend to over-request for a number of reasons but I took part in an ARC challenge last month and did manage to deal with some of my ARCs. I'll try my best to be more careful when requesting ARC this year :)

  6. I definitely need to work on my Pinterest account. I always enjoy it when I get on, but I'm not very consistent with it. Count me as someone who understands the read more/read less thing. I tend to get in a zone of genres that I read and I never venture beyond that. I also need to be more choosy about what I read so I can avoid those DNF/low rating books. Good luck with your goals!

  7. I could copy this list for my own personal use! So relatable, I tend to read a lot that I am not seriously interested in, and I want more time to read what I really want to read. And I honestly need to request fewer e-ARCs.
    Great list. New bloglovin follower.
