BOOK
SUMMARY
With his chiseled jaw and his thick blond hair, Harrison Montgomery was
born to lead. Four generations of Montgomery men have served the state of
Georgia and now he’s next in line. Harrison, though, is driven to right wrongs:
namely to clean up the political mess left by his father’s greed and
corruption. But Harrison must first win his congressional bid, and nothing can
get in his way—not even an angel who served him whiskey and gave him a shoulder
to lean on and a body to love for a night. Problem is, she’s pregnant. Scandal
is brewing and there is only one solution: marriage.
Damage control? Ryan Kaminski can’t believe that a cold, calculating
political animal now inhabits the body of the emotionally vulnerable stranger
who’d given her the most unforgettable night of her life. Really, she doesn’t
want anything from Harrison, except to be left alone to have her baby in peace.
But Ryan is broke, jobless, and essentially blackmailed by Harrison’s desperate
family to accept this crazy marriage deal. For two years, she will have to act
the role of caring, supportive wife. But what is Ryan supposed to do when she
realizes that, deep in her heart, she’s falling in love.

Playlist
Patty Griffin - Not Alone
This song is
actually about a woman who has died and is watching her husband sleep. But I
love the imagery of how alone the man is and I think it fits Harrison
incredibly well - he's got a lot of Ghosts...
She sees him laying in the bed alone
tonight
The only thing a touching him is a crack of
light
Pieces of her hair are wrapped around and
'round his fingers
And he reaches for her side, for any sign
of her that lingers
Florence and The Machine - Shake itOut
This song completely personifies
Ryan, my heroine. She's so tough, with so many regrets and falling in love
requires her to "bury that horse in the ground"
Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
Death Cab For Cutie -- I Will Follow YouInto The Dark
I love this song so much. It's painfully
romantic - the lyrics just kill me. This is Harrison's song for Ryan when he
follows her to Philly, to claim her in front of her family. It's stark and real
and beautiful. Go listen!
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the "No"'s on their
vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Pat Benetar -- Love is a Battlefield
That's
right, we're going way back for this one!!
But frankly, for the first half of the book Ryan and Harrison's
relationship is a battlefield. So it totally fits. And it gave me a chance to
rewatch that video...
You're begging me to go
Then making me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way
Or am I the best thing you've had
Maroon 5 - Love Somebody
Ryan in Indecent
Proposal is a big fan of Maroon 5. And I imagine her listening to this song and
feeling like the band is singing right to her.
I know your insides are feeling so hollow
And it's a hard pill for you to swallow,
yeah
But if I fall for you, I'll never recover
If I fall for you, I'll never be the same
