Top Ten Tuesday 04

23:56

Top Ten Tuesday is weekly meme hosted The Broke and the Bookish. There is a new topic for each week and the participating bloggers are invited to post their Top Ten lists on it.

I missed last week's TTT but I am back today participating in a favourite topic of mine - Books into Movies.

Where She Went by Gayle Forman - I dream of hearing the songs from this book played live but I am sure it will also make a great movies. The first book in the series, If I Stay, is already being filmed with Chloe Moretz as Mia and Jamie Blackley as Adam.

On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta - this is the firt book that comes to my mind when talking about movie adaptations. Ms Marchetta is already working on the script and the casting is already underway. it will be an Australian movie

Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid - this book is just hilarious. i am not really sure but I think it will make great romantic comedy

The Davina Code by Janet Elizabeth Henderson - same as NSH, but with a more British flavour to it

The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta - another contemporary Marchetta's novel. I loved the story and I think it would make a great serious/dramatic movie.

The next five suggestions on my list are series of books:

The Artists Trilogy by Karina Halle - I just read the first two books and the prequel and really enjoyed them. they would make a dark thriller with a tuch of drama and romance. Ms Halle's dream cast for a movie adaptation  :)

Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta - the final Marchetta's novel (series) on my list. It is a fantasy series with great characters and complex world of magic and war. It could look amazing on the big screen

The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning - My all-time favourite Urban Fantasy series. The world created by Karen Marie Moning is so complex and captivating that it will be quite a challenge to transfer it to the big screen. Ms Moning recently shared on FB that the movie rights are back in her possession, so I don't know what this means about a possible movie adaptation.

Legend series by Marie Lu - An amazing dystopian young adult series. I really enjoyed the first two books and I am looking forward the final one too be released this fall. I can totally see Day and June in a great action packed movie.

Breathing series by Rebecca Donovan - This Young to New Adult series that touches upon serious issues as domestic violence could make a great angst-filled drama.

What are the books you want to see made into movies?
Leave me a comment and I will check back your Top Ten list :)

Movie news: The Maze Runner by James Dashner

05:05

I was excited to learn this week (better late than never) that The Maze Runner by James Dashner, a favourite YA dystopian series, will be made into a movie. Entertainment Weekly just gave us the first look of the movie adaptation of the series, accompanied with a a brief interview with the movie director, Wes Ball. It looks good to me and I hope that the movie will do justice to these amazing series. The movie will be released on February 14, 2014.

If you have not read the series yet, check is out. It is a great dystopian adventure story, written in great style. I enjoyed every minute of it. Here are the books in the series in chronological order. In reality, you can read the Prequel after the other three books.

The Kill Order (Prequel)

One choice will define you

After the reveal of the title of the final book of the Divergent Series a few days ago, and it it Allegiant, for anyone who might have missed this, now we have the book cover. It was revealed on the Today Show where you can watch an interview with Ms Roth. I have to say I really like the cover, it is beautiful.

Now, about the movie. The filming of Divergent is already underway and it is to be released on March 21, 2014. The exciting news is that the second book in the series, Insurgent, will also be made into a movie. The process of drafting the script has already began.

You can follow Divergent series on Facebook for more exciting news on the series and upcoming movies.

Movie News on If I Stay by Gayle Forman

05:25

Here is some more movie news. After my last post on the Delirium TV series, here is the latest update on process of making a big screen movie out of Gayle Forman's If I Stay

The author herself shared with her fans on Facebook that the movie already has a producer selected - R. J. Cutler. his name can be added to that of Chloe Moretz who has been cast as the main heroine, Mia. Now what is left is to find the best actor for Adam.

Chloe Moretz
While I can see Chloe as Mia, things are different with Adam. Considering he is a particular favourite of mine (especially in the second book, Where She Went), casting someone to match perfectly my vision of him will be quite a challenge.

Delirium Trilogy to be Made into TV Series

12:55

Here is the start to the latest section in the Blog - Books into Movies. As I am currently reading Requiem by Lauren Oliver I find it only fitting to share the news of the TV series adaptation of the Delirium Trilogy. The initial idea was for Fox company (which the rights to the books in 2011) to adapt the books into a film series  for the big screen but later the concept was changed to TV series. In January 2013 it was officially announced that the series were given a green light. The show will scripted and produced by Karyn Usher (Prison Break).

As a big fan of the book series on the one hand and a big of TV series in general, I am very happy about this news. I am really excited about the upcoming show and hope that it will do justice to the complex characters in the novels and the beautiful writing style of Lauren Oliver. Creating a true to the books version both of the Deliria-infected and free Wilds and the Deliria-free and regulated Portland will be quite a challenge.

You can read Lauren Oliver's really happy reaction to this news on her website.

And finally, meets the actors cast for main characters in the pilot episode:

Emma Roberts as Lena Haloway. It is not exactly how I pictured Lena, still I hope that she will represent faithfully Lena's nature.

Daren Kagasoff - Alex Sheathes. Good choice for the boy with hair the colour of autumn.

Jeanine Mason - Hana Tate

Gregg Sulkin - Julian Fineman. Fits perfectly to my own image of Julian.
